Stars & Stripes - SNSDC60

This week's challenge at the Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Challenge Blog is to use Stars & Stripes on your project.  Be sure to visit the blog and see how the rest of the Design Team interpreted this challenge -- not everyone went with a patriotic theme.

I chose to use Patriotic Cocoa and went with a simple design since there was so much "busy-ness" with the gingham paper.  I printed the sentiment below Cocoa AFTER I colored him.  That was living dangerously!  I used Spellbinders Labels 7 to cut out the image panel.  Since I was using the largest die and therefore had no larger size to mat the panel, I traced around the outside of the die on my blue cardstock and cut it out with scissors.

I colored Cocoa and his star with my Copic markers.  I used some stickles on the perimeter of the star for some sparkle and also added subtle sparkle to the stars with my Sakura glitter pen.  Some baker's twine from The Twinery finished off my card.

Supplies:
Cardstock: DCWV, Georgia Pacific
Patterned Paper:  DCWV
Stamps:  Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Stamps (Celebrate America, Patriotic Cocoa)
Embellishments/Tools:  baker's twine (The Twinery - Maraschino, Denim), Spellbinders (Labels 7), Stickles (diamond), Sakura Clear Star glitter pen

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps June Digi Release Blog Hop

It is time for another Sweet `n Sassy Digi Challenge, but today we are very excited to add something more!  Since it's also time for the June Digi Release, the SNSDC Ladies are bringing you a fun blog hop to introduce all the new digis.  You'll want to stop by each blog to see the beautiful samples made with this month's new releases.  And while you're hopping, be sure to leave a comment on each blog.  Why?  One of the ladies is a mystery blogger and she will be picking a random winner from the comments left on her blog post.

What will the winner receive?  I'm so glad you asked.  The winner will receive the entire June Digi Release!!  The winner will be announced next Friday, June 29th, on the Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Challenge Blog.

This week's challenge is near & dear to most ladies' hearts....Bling!  Just add rhinestones, pearls, jewels, etc. to your project.

I was able to play with the new Dahlia digi this week.  I chose to paper piece the flower in 3 different patterned papers.  The layers were attached to each other with a glue dot and a button finished off the center of the flower.  Before attaching each layer, I burnished the flower petals with a pen top on a mouse pad (high tech aren't I?) to make them curl on the edges.  A little glitter pen provides some extra sparkle to each petal.

For my bling, I added rhinestones and pearls.  While I don't think you can see it in the picture, I added some glitter pen dots to the center of each of the yellow flowers in the background paper.  I also accented the die cut edge with the glitter pen.  This card definitely has some sparkle!!

Supplies:
Cardstock:  Georgia Pacific (white), Bazzill Two Scoops (Key Lime Pie)
Patterned Paper:  Basic Grey (Picadilly)
Stamps:  Sweet 'n Sassy Digis (Dahlia, Encouragement Scripture Set)
Embellishments/Tools:  Spellbinders (Classic Edges 2, Classic Decorative Inserts 5), Sakura Clear Star glitter pen, Studio G rhinestones, Recollections pearl flourish, DMC floss, Morex Corp ribbon, button from stash

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
CPS 270 - Sketch
Papertake Weekly - Bingo (ribbon/diecut/button, ribbon/free/blooms)
Word Art Wednesday #33 - Use Scripture
Stampin' Sisters in Christ #144 - Create something that reflects you (I like to use Scripture; a little bling but not too much and pearls more than rhinestones; in general I like a feminine look - I enjoy being female)
Divas by Design #40 - Use a diecut

I hope you'll play along with us this week. Just a few things to keep in mind as you play....

To Be a Hero - SNSDC58

This week's challenge at The Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Challenge Blog is to make a card that has a maximum of 2 layers (the card base and embellishments don't count as layers).  If you know my cards, you'll know this is a true challenge for me.  So, in my mind, when I was making this card, the patterned paper strips, the puppy image and the jute are all embellishments.  *grin*

I used this weekly card sketch challenge on SCS for the card design.  I printed the sentiment directly on my 8.5 x 11 cardstock before cutting the card-base to 5.5 x 11.  I then layered dark blue cardstock behind some new (to me) embossed brown Bazzill cardstock.  Before adhering the two layers of cardstock to the card-base, I punched a hole in each corner and then threaded some jute thru the holes and tied a knot in one corner.  I then attached this panel to the base with pop dots.

The puppy was colored with copics and fussy cut.  The paper strips are from a piece of patterned paper I've been sort of hoarding in my stash. I inked the edges of the strips and all 3 solid cardstocks.  The line is called "Like Father, Like Son" and is by Fancy Pants.  Our son looks up to my husband and our grandson does the same with our son, so these father/son sentiments are close to my heart.  I used pop dots to attach the paper strips and the puppy.  I added a little glaze to the puppy's nose and a touch of glitter pen to his tag.  A little doodled frame around the sentiment finished off the card.

Supplies:
Cardstock:  Bazzill, Co'redinations
Patterned Paper:  Fancy Pants (Like Father Like Son)
Stamps:  Sweet 'n Sassy Digis (Father's Day Sentiments, Let's Go Fishing Puppy)
Embellishments/Tools:  jute (JoAnn's), Sakura glaze pen, Sakura clear star pen, CM Journal pen (black), Colorbox Fluid Chalk (chestnut roan)

Sentimental Sunday #106 - For a Special Guy
Craft Your Passion #114 - Anything Goes
Paper Pretties Monday Challenge (PPMC43) - Father's Day
Papertake Weekly - 3-2-1 (I used 3 solid cardstocks, 2 digi stamps and 1 piece of jute)
Going Gray with Scrap-Creations - Celebrations

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you'll play along with us this week.

SNSDC57 - Friends

This week's Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Challenge is to make a card that has a camping theme or something that you see in nature.  I had planned to use a different image but this card kept running thru my head this week so, it won!  I'll use the other image another time I suppose.  :)

I went with a CAS design and challenged myself to see if I could emboss the front with an un-embossed area for the sentiment.  After a couple tries, I finally got one I liked and finished off the card with the sentiment panel & a ribbon.  There's a little bit of glitter pen used on the flower centers (cones?) and the butterfly.

Supplies:
Cardstock:  Georgia Pacific, Recollections
Stamps: Sweet 'n Sassy Digis (True Friend Sentiments, Coneflowers and Butterfly)
Tools/Embellishments:  ribbon (Michael's), Copic Markers, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder (Swiss Dots), Spellbinders (Petite Scalloped Ovals Small, Petite Ovals Large), Sakura clear star pen, ScorBuddy

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes
Tuesday Throwdown #101 - Friendship
Crazy 4 Challenges (C4C139) - Butterflies
SNSS Hump Day Challenge #42 (on SCS) - Use 2 or more die cut shapes

Don't forget...Every card you enter throughout June, you will get one entry to be eligible for winning 3 digis of your choice from the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps store. Be sure to play along every week.

Here is something we more we added to get you play along with us more often...

Happy Birthday with Riley the Moose

As soon as I saw this Fishing Riley stamp by Riley & Co., I knew he needed to be part of my stamp collection.  Our son likes moose and he's an avid fisherman (so much so that he's the fishing manager at our local Bass Pro Shops).  This made Fishing Riley the perfect image for him!  I finally got brave enough to color Riley with my copic markers (images with a lot of coloring really push my comfort zone) just in time for our son's birthday.  Masculine cards are always a challenge for me but cute images like this sure help!

I used this Double Pocket Card tutorial on SCS to make my card.  A gift card is in the first pocket and is hidden behind the Riley panel. I paper pieced the boat and Riley's hat.

A tag in the 2nd pocket has a sentiment from another new favorite stamp.  This card opens up so that my husband and I were able to write a birthday note to him.

Supplies:
Cardstock:  Bazzill, Recollections, Georgia Pacific
Patterned Paper:  BG
Stamps:  Riley & Co (Fishing Riley), Studio G (sentiments)
Ink:  SU (Bliss Blue), ColorBox Fluid Chalk (chestnut roan)
Embellishments/Tools:  baker's twine (The Twinery), button from stash, Spellbinders (Standard Circles Large & Small), SU Journal Writer (Close to Cocoa), Copic Markers

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes - emphasis on twine
Divas by Design #37 - Anything Goes
Tuesday Throwdown #100- Masculine
Love to Create #17 - Add a sentiment
Stampin Sisters in Christ #117 - something you're afraid of (coloring details images)
Terrifically Thrilling Thursday - Pick at least 2 things from a list of required items (I chose the color blue & markers - if baker's twine counts as ribbon, that would be a 3rd)

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a wonderful weekend.

To Have and to Hold -- SNSDC56

This week's challenge at the Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Challenge Blog is to make a Wedding or Best Wishes card.  I chose to use MOJO Monday's sketch for my design.  I am really enjoying these crystal flourishes I was given for Mother's Day.  I hope you're not tired of seeing them yet.  :)

I wanted to add some silver to my card.  I swiped a Versamark pad on the edges of my white cardstock mats and then covered it with silver embossing powder.  Heat embossing really brought out the shine I was wanting.  I then layered my image panel on top.  I used the same method for the matting on the patterned paper strip and inside.

I thought this card should have some interior decorating.

Supplies:
Cardstock:  Recollections (black), Georgia Pacific (white)
Patterned Paper:  Bo Bunny (Enchanted)
Stamps:  Sweet 'n Sassy (Wedding Sentiments)
Ink:  Versamark
Embellishments/Tools:  silver rhinestones (Michael's), bling flourish (Prima Say It with Crystals), ribbon (Ribbon Trends - white organdy), embossing powder (Zing! - silver), Bow Easy, Spellbinders (large and small circles)

Mojo Monday (MOJO243) - sketch
